Our Teachers

Ms. Ada Sun, Director, Lead Teacher – Math/English

Ms. Ada has a teaching experience of more than ten years with students ranging from daycare kids to college students.  She always works on helping students realize the fun and beauty of studying.  She regards learning as an enjoyable lifestyle.

Ms. Ada received her bachelor in Tsinghua University in Academic Talent Program with major in Fundamental Physics and Math. She also has two Masters degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology with major in Quantitative and Computational Finance and Economics.  She is also a Ph.D. student in The Department of Electrical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology.

Ms. Jing Lu, Director Assistant

Ms. Lulu earns her B.A. in elementary art education at Shanxi Normal University, China. In the U.S., she has been teaching art at schools in Tennessee for five years, and in Houston for 4 years. She believes the exploration of styles, materials, observation, and expression are the keys to teaching art to kids.

Ms. Lulu’s works cover sketching, water coloring, painting, Chinese painting, and Chinese calligraphy. She has been studying traditional Chinese art since the age of 3 with Prof. Weihua Fan one of the most famous artists in China. Her work has been exhibited at many cities with numerous awards.

Ms. Sue Wu, Lead Teacher – Chinese

Ms. Sue Wu grow up in Beijing, China, and graduated in Management. She speaks in Mandarin Chinese language and in English. She has been teaching Mandarin Chinese since 2010 to Chinese speakers and non-Chinese speakers.

Ms. Sue has training in Language & Cognitive Development, Positive Interactions & Activities, and Positive Discipline & Guidance.
She has a nature of loving and caring personality, and enjoyed in teaching and helping children. Her goal for the classroom is to provide a structured and fun learning environment so the children can learn and grow.

She is excited and proud to be a mandarin teacher in 3S Learning Center, and working with all members!

Ms. Monique Ocampo, Tutor – Reading/Writing

Monique Ocampo graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a B.A. in Communications. She interned at CW39 Houston and worked as a freelance writer and volunteered at various young adult events in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Currently, she writes book reviews and promotes flash sales of various independent and small press authors with Catholic Reads.

Ms. Monique has been tutoring students at various levels. She believes practice makes perfect. In class, she enjoy sharing her experience on reading and writing with students.

Mr. Patrick Ocampo, Tutor – Math/GT/Test Preparation

Patrick studied at William P. Clements High School as part of their Global Languages Academy Program, focusing on Japanese language and culture, one of many countries he grew up interested in learning about. He went on to study at St. Edward’s University, where he continued his studies of global cultures both in class and abroad.

Having graduated with a B.A. in Global Studies, Patrick utilizes his experiences to encourage communication and education across different cultures.

He currently tutors Mathematics, Test Preparation with 3S Learning Center. .

Ms. Megan James, Tutor – Reading

Ms. Megan was born in England and lived the majority of her formative years in China. She moved to America in 2011 and graduated from Oak Ridge High School and is currently pursuing a B.A. in History as well as a minor in education. She has always had a focus on education while also wanting the opportunity to help children understand the world around them and excel as independent thinkers. She believes that the foundations for an individual’s success are based on their ability to read and express their thoughts concisely and in a deep manner. Pushing her to help as many children as she can to understand the importance of reading and find their passion for it, so they can become successful in school and society in the future..

Ms. Dawn Ferrier, Music Teacher – Piano/Voice

Mrs. Ferrier was born and raised in Ontario Canada and has been teaching music for over 25 years.  She has a degree in piano and voice from the University of Windsor Ontario with a minor in trumpet. She achieved her music education degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan.  She has taught several choirs/brass choirs/marching bands/tone chime choirs and has put on several plays, talent shows, recitals, and elementary and high school performances. She has traveled to Italy to perform with school bands as well as singing with the International Symphony Chorus.  One of Mrs. Ferrier’s cherished  moments was when she was contacted by the Make a Wish Foundation to help grant a wish to a young girl who always wanted to learn music and she helped make her dream come true. Mrs. Ferrier taught over 5 years for the London District School Board and the Lambton County School board in Sarnia Ontario. In the Houston/Katy area she has taught for over 16 years privately and has enjoyed it immensely.   Mrs. Ferrier has been married for over 17 years and is a proud mother of two beautiful children.  Mrs. Ferrier has a genuine love for teaching and watching children thrive musically and educationally and she is looking forward to working with the children and families at 3S Learning Center. .

Ms. Claudia de Leon, Teacher – Art

Claudia de Leon was born and raised in Mexico City, she completed a 4-year degree in Graphic Design. She belongs to an artistic family, which has encouraged her, from an early age to the sensitivity of artistic expression.

She has completed Plastic Arts courses, including sculpture (Mexico). She has studied courses in Jewelry Design while living in Paris, France for one year. Lived in the UK for three years and completed Life Drawing courses at the University of Sussex, in Brighton. While in the UK she continued creating and designing jewelry in Lewes, East Sussex. And also completed Life Sculpture studies in Brighton, East Sussex, before moving to New York. She completed several artistic Works during her 10 years in New York. After moving back to Mexico for three years, she currently resides in Houston, Texas and continues to explore and Express her artistic ambitions. Several Works of art have been created based on her extensive and elaborate Studies.

She enjoys expressing herself through her paintings, with new mixed techniques using acrylics, which she learned from her mother, who she herself is an Artist in Mexico.

Ms. Chloe Wong, Tutor

Chloe is currently a junior at Obra D. Tompkins High School and is enrolled in several clubs, including Force, Student Council, National Honors Society, Hosa, and Mu Alpha Theta. Outside of clubs, Chloe runs track and field and spends her extra time volunteering.  She plans on going to college at the University of Texas and being a cardiac surgeon.

Ms. Viviana Valiente M., Art Teacher

Viviana Valiente is a Chilean architect, artist, author, teacher and also the mother of four young children. While studying architecture she developed an interest in fiber arts and painting. In 2001, she started teaching as an assistant of graphics, techniques, and expression at Finis Terrae University and Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile, where she also specialized in textile arts. She continued enhancing her talents as art teacher dedicating herself to continuous learning, always taking classes with the best teachers in various techniques as well as experimenting with styles and materials outside the classroom.

Her versatility has allowed her to integrate new techniques into her work and to discover and further develop her knowledge of mosaic art, which has led her to pursue work designing textures using diverse materials, such as stones, fiber, glass, beads, and antique artifacts, opening a door to an immense world full of ideas.

She truly believes that art is an essential tool for self-knowledge and expression. In time, she felt the need to expand and share her knowledge through the writing of her first book, Weaving for the Soul: Loom Frames, which she published in both Spanish and English, with the main objective of simplifying the process and technical concepts to make textile arts accessible to all. She has also taken on the challenge of writing her second book, Weaving for the Soul: Contemporary Tapestry, which will be published in the near future.

Ms. Judy Edwards Cox, English Teacher

Ms. C was born and raised in Katy. She attended Katy Elementary, Katy Junior High, and Katy High School when those were the only schools in town. She graduated from Katy High School in 1976, when it was the last year for it to be 2A and the only high school in this district. She then went on to Sam Houston State University and received her Bachelors in Elementary Education. She was married and has a daughter. She taught in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District for 30 years until she retired. She now substitutes, almost every day, in Katy ISD. She has 2 grandchildren, 4 dogs, 6 foster dogs, and is very active with dog rescue.

Ms. Chen, Art Teacher

Chen has a B.A. in Legal Studies from the University of Houston- Clear Lake, graduating summa cum Laude. She has spent much of her career in industry, taking on roles in accounting and translation. For the past seven years, she has taught Sunday school and enjoys working with children. She will be teaching art at 3S Learning Center because she believes that the arts are crucial to the development of children and seeks to provide an environment where children can bring their imagination to life. Chine lives with her husband and her lovely cat in Katy. She has one daughter currently studying finance at the New York University Stem School of Business.

Ms. Chloe Wong, Tutor

Chloe is currently a junior at Obra D. Tompkins High School and is enrolled in several clubs, including Force, Student Council, National Honors Society, Hosa, and Mu Alpha Theta. Outside of clubs, Chloe runs track and field and spends her extra time volunteering.  She plans on going to college at the University of Texas and being a cardiac surgeon.

Ms. May Chen, Tutor

May went Obra D. Tompkins High School before attending and graduating from the Texas Academy of Math and Science, an early college program at the University of North Texas. Throughout high school, she was an active participant and leader in many clubs and organizations such as Orchestra, Key Club, Science Olympiad, Mu Alpha Theta, Junior Engineering and Technical Society (JETS), and TAMS Ambassadors. Through Mu Alpha Theta and JETS, she has had many years of experience tutoring elementary, middle, and high school students in math and science. She is also fluent in both Chinese and English. Starting this fall, she will be attending the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Civil Engineering.

Mr. Quentin Banks, Tutor

Quentin Banks is currently a student at Texas Southern University, pursuing a BS in Mathematics. Banks enjoys learning new things and traveling to new places. He also loves music and plays the keyboard and saxophone. He also enjoys learning new languages and computer science.
